These weekly Outdoor Yoga Classes are held in the beautiful, shaded meadow behind the Jackson Wellsprings (by the Oak Temple).
With a professional sound system and expansive outdoor space, there is plenty of room to gather (at 6' spacing) to enjoy the benefits of yoga and community(kula) in a safe, live setting during the COVID-19 health crisis.
The classes are designed with variations to accommodate all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Each class is entirely unique and inspired by the potent expressions of the seasons, nature, and the natural tides and flow of the worlds within and around us. We will explore the depth of the human experience with creative, anatomy-based alignment, somatic movements & Anusara-Inspired yoga. It's a community class open to all.
*Please bring your own yoga mat and any props that would benefit your practice. I will not be providing any props or doing hands on adjustments with the intention to facilitate a safe environment for all.
*Please do not attend these in-person classes if you feel ill in any way, especially if you exhibit a cough, fever or shortness of breath.
Fall Series 2016 AYC
we will explore the theme of letting go. Following the example of trees that release their leaves to better nourish their roots--unafraid of stripping down the outer costume to reveal what's truly strong, sustainable and vital. In asana, we'll explore this through a slow progression of learning arm balances which require the letting go of fear, to find what truly supports us, as well as the freedom of what can fly. Appropriate for all levels though some experience is beneficial (Level I-II).

Winter is the time nature directs all life back to its roots. In this 9-week winter series we will explore deep to the roots of a yoga practice.
Yoga was initially designed as a practice to create a supple body that would allow more ease and comfort for meditation, and in that, a liberation from the fluctuations of the mind. Embracing this contemplative, inward time of year, the yoga practice will direct our attention and resources to our own roots of strength and support. We'll work to cultivate greater ease for the body, quietude for the mind and peace for both. The classes will provide an in-depth exploration of the core, bones and breath while working to release the hips and rejuvenate body and mind with restorative inversions and meditation.
Winter Solstice
Location: Jackson Wellsprings
Date: Monday, December 21st
Time: 6:00 PM - 7:45 PM
Cost: $15-$20 sliding scale (no one turned away)
Winter Solstice is the darkest day of the year, the soil is rich and each day that follows for the next 6 months will bring more light to the seeds we plant at this time... It's an ideal time to be aware of what we're planting. The first half hour of this class will explore gentle movements and breath work designed to quiet the mind and turn inwards before writing 7 things you'd like to come into your life, and 7 things you'd like to let go. We'll follow with a fire infused yoga practice to ignite and illuminate those seeds to action. At the end of class we'll burn those papers and send your intentions into the ether of ash and air.
I hope you join me!

Spring is the time to wake up, stretch our limbs and invigorate the senses with fresh new life. After rejuvenating through winter the body is ready to shed its heavy coat and feel life force (prana) flow more vibrantly. In this 6-week series we'll work to cleanse and release the stagnancy of winter and inspire the growth and beauty of spring with an in-depth exploration of twists and backbends. The asana practice will aim to align and enliven the spine, while opening the heart toward greater freedom and joy.
winter 2017
Winter is a time of quiet introspection with an opportunity to reset, rejuvenate and reassess habitual patterns to better align with our highest potential. In this Winter series we will explore the foundations of alignment. Moving from the ground up, each week will focus on balancing a specific region of the body, utilizing naturally opposing forces to return to center. When the body is aligned, the mind also rests in the calm quietude of an undisturbed environment.

(Level I-II)
In this Spring Yoga Series we'll work to release the habitual holding patterns that tend to encapsulate the hips, pelvis and shoulders. I am reminded of the quote by Anais Nin that says: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud, was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” Spring is the time life pushes us to expand beyond previously imagined limitations. It asks us to break free of the various armors that we've used as protection and risk being exposed, vulnerable and open. It's only in this way that we begin to expand, grow and feel the full capacity of our own innate beauty, strength and boundless potential. Hips, pelvis and shoulders hold a majority of the body's tension, so when released, contain potent possibilities for the emergent strength of spring to move through our being as well.
